    In-Check Nasal - Rhinitis

    Nasal obstruction in rhinitis (Hayfever) is a common symptom, and a cause of much discomfort for sufferers. Patients who have difficulty breathing through their nose may describe their symptoms in many different ways, but without a specific test, the health professional cannot judge how much obstruction exists, or whether therapeutic intervention has been beneficial.

    In-Check Nasal is a hand-held flow meter that provides objective assessment of nasal airway patency, in a similar way to Peak Expiratory Flow meters in Asthma. By comparing results over a period of time, the severity of the disease can be assessed, and appropriate treatment chosen.

    COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is now recognised as a significant burden for health care systems across the world. The disease places a large demand on limited resources, and those affected have a reduced quality of life, and a reduced life expectancy.

    Pulmonary function analysis such as spirometry can document changes in lung function within these patients, but new research suggests that simple measurements of inspiratory capacity may reveal more about how effective different treatments can be.
